Week 1 Fantasy Football News and Injuries (2026): Mahomes is back, Darnold is down, and the wire is open

Week 1 gave fantasy managers the two stories they feared and one they hoped for. Patrick Mahomes started nine months after tearing his ACL and scored 22.7 PPR points, Sam Darnold left Seattle's opener with a hip injury that now has him out for week 2, and A.J. Brown went to injured reserve with a high ankle sprain that the Patriots say will cost him at least four games. Behind those headlines, 109 reports crossed the desk in seven days: 56 injuries, 39 players ruled out or placed on reserve, and 30 transactions. A note from the guy who built this

Hi, I'm Michael. I built the fantasy site I couldn't find anywhere else. It reads by ear or by eye.

I've played fantasy football since 2006, twenty seasons of redraft, dynasty, superflex and tight end premium. I'm also blind, and I run every one of my leagues with a screen reader. For most of those years the tools everyone else loved were the thing standing between me and my own lineup.

Every app I tried had friction sighted users never notice: stats trapped inside an unlabeled chart, filters you can only reach with a mouse, player news that updates silently. At some point I stopped waiting for somebody else to fix it.

So every screen here is written as real HTML first, then driven with a keyboard and a screen reader before it ships, and a number sounds the same as it looks. If you can see just fine, you still get something out of that: a site that works by ear has nothing hiding in a chart, so it is faster for everyone. Come find me in the Discord, I'm in there too.

The rules I ship every screen under

  • Real HTML first

    A button is a button and a table is a table. I use ARIA to fill the gaps HTML cannot express, never the other way round.

  • Everything works by keyboard

    Every control is reachable without a mouse, and I never remove a focus ring without putting a replacement in its place.

  • Nothing is dropped on a phone

    When a table will not fit, the row restacks. I never hide a column to make the layout easier.

  • Color never carries meaning alone

    Every colored state is paired with words, so a verdict reads the same by ear as it looks on the page.
